PLUMBING
Apprentice Plumbers support licensed plumbers with essential plumbing tasks. Their responsibilities include assisting in the installation and repair of piping systems, setting up plumbing fixtures such as sinks and toilets. Apprentice plumbers are learning to use plumbing tools correctly, adhering to safety standards, and gaining familiarity with local plumbing codes and industry regulations.
Journeyman Plumbers are experienced professionals who have completed a formal apprenticeship and passed the required licensing exam in most states. Typically achieved after four to five years of training, journeymen are qualified to work independently on a wide range of plumbing projects. Their responsibilities include performing plumbing installations and repairs, interpreting blueprints and plumbing codes, and supervising apprentice plumbers. Journeyman plumbers are equipped to handle residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems with a high level of skill and professionalism.
Master Plumbers are highly skilled and licensed professionals who typically have spent 1 to 5 years as a journeyman before passing a more comprehensive licensing exam. Master plumbers are qualified to design complex plumbing systems, ensure full compliance with building codes, and pull permits for large-scale projects. They often manage plumbing teams and ensure quality standards are met.
CARPENTRY
Apprentice Carpenters usually have 1-4 years of experience are learn fundamental skills such as measuring, cutting, framing, and reading blueprints, all under the supervision of experienced carpenters. Their primary role is to assist journeymen and master carpenters while gaining hands-on experience and building a solid foundation in the trade.
Journeyman Carpenters have typically 4-10 years of experience and are fully qualified to work independently on a wide range of carpentry tasks, including framing, finishing, cabinetry, and remodeling. They can read and interpret blueprints, manage job sites, and may supervise apprentices.
Master Carpenters are highly experienced professionals with 10+ years of experience. They have demonstrated exceptional skill and knowledge in the field as well as hold a strong reputation for quality craftsmanship. Master carpenters often take on complex projects, lead teams, manage construction sites.
PAINTING
Apprentice Painters typically have 1 to 4 years of experience and learn the basics of surface preparation, priming, painting techniques, and the safe use of tools and materials. This stage often includes both on-the-job training and classroom instruction. Their responsibilities may include masking, sanding, cleaning surfaces, and assisting with paint application.
Journeyman Painters usually have 4 to 10 years experience and have completed an apprenticeship or equivalent training and is fully qualified to work independently. They are skilled in a variety of painting techniques, including brushing, rolling, and spraying, and are proficient in surface preparation, color matching, and finishing. Journeymen can read blueprints and specifications, estimate materials, and may supervise apprentices.
Lead Painters are highly experienced professionals with 10+ years of experience who have demonstrated advanced skills, leadership, and a deep understanding of painting systems and materials. They often manage crews, oversee large or complex projects, and ensure quality control. Lead painters are also responsible for training and mentoring less experienced workers.
