Happy Halloween from LA!

Several of the staff also came in costume, both here and at other branches. Some of the highlights included a nun, a pair of cowgirls, plus a very special cross-gender reunion of “Destiny’s Child” (circa “Survivor”). Whether you’re going out with friends this evening or spending time with family, we hope you have a fun & safe Halloween!

Mid October marked the arrival of a new group of employees at Outsource corporate headquarters for Foundation Training. And as is custom, we kicked off the 10 day training with a happy hour mixer with the corporate staff (see pictures). Foundation Training is a immersion program that brings new hires up to speed on all things Outsource; what we do, how we do it, and how to succeed here. We want our new employees to get the skills they need to get right into their roles and feeling comfortable with their duties and goals. The introductory period is a great opportunity for everyone to learn, ask any questions that come to mind, and work the kinks out before we put them in place with their teams.

This class featured five new members of the Outsource family: Casey Merriman from the New York office, Jessie Adams from San Francisco, Matthew Guevara and Mariela Alvarez from our Washington, D.C. branch, and Nick Ellis from Phoenix. The training was helmed by our Talent Acquisition Manager Amanda Delzell, in conjunction with our Director of Staffing Jenny Zhao. In addition to developing fundamental skills, shadowing other employees and working on role playing exercises, the trainees also got to spend time with CEO John Lowell, and East Coast Regional Manager Carl Lechner, who was also at corporate for a series of meetings.

We welcome this new class to Outsource, and we know you’re prepared for success!

The Veterans: Amanda Delzell (Talent Acquisition Manager) with Victoria Esna (Northeast Territory Manager) and Tracey Burchfield (Recruiter, Atlanta).

The House of Blues on the Sunset strip is a fantastic venue for live music, and our very own John Lowell (CEO) performed there recently with his band, Redondo Bitch. John plays the drums and the band is a trio specializing in heavy B-side classic rock. Think AC/DC, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, and of course the Stones. This was Redondo Bitch’s second appearance at the House of Blues in the last few months, having also played in the venue’s Foundation Room in July. There was a large contingent of the Outsource family in attendance for the show. You can check out Redondo Bitch’s Facebook page here… become a fan and come on out to their next gig!

CEO John Lowell Celebrates Birthday

The Los Angeles office celebrated John Lowell’s birthday on September 25th. John (pictured here) was pulled out of a meeting to find his staff assembled for the surprise. We didn’t catch the exact milestone he’s observing (and he didn’t volunteer), but we all extend John our best wishes on his special day.

From June 24 through July 3, the LA Office was home to a new class of Trainees while they learned the ins and outs of sourcing for wired systems staffing. This is only the second class to go through the new Foundations Training, but the benefits are already being noticed! “We’ve found that when everyone is at the same experience level, the amount of engagement and energy in the room increases which fosters an optimal learning environment”, explained Brie Harvey, Director of Recruitment.

While the training program covers copious amounts of information there were some highlights that stood out for the trainees. “The most interesting thing that I learned was just how in depth an integrated system (HVAC in particular) can be. Now I see why it is so difficult to find a qualified commercial HVAC technician,” said Cameron Cariello, Sourcing Specialist. In addition Jonathan Bassett, Sourcing Specialist, was impressed to learn more about Outsource. “I am just impressed with the hold Outsource has on this market. To carve out such an impressive niche and dominate the space as this company has is truly something to be proud of.” outsource trainees One of the best parts of the training process for both trainers and trainees is getting to know each other better.

“Getting to know the trainees, seeing how their brains work and being involved in assembling them into our culture is a highlight for me,” said Brie Harvey. Similarly Jonathan Bassett enjoyed getting to know his co-workers and fellow trainees. “I really enjoyed getting to know all of my peers. It was really cool to have a bunch of people who are in the same position as entry level employees to share the experience of learning the business and going through some of the same bumps along the way. I love the energy that the employees in the LA office have and their willingness to be so helpful throughout the training process,” he said. “It really set us up for a good working environment.”
