photo1What started out as a rainy Saturday turned into a beautiful day for a picnic and an opportunity for Outsource to show its appreciation for our dedicated Technicians as the San Francisco office hosted a picnic for Techs and their families. The event was held this past Saturday, October 25th, at the Orange Memorial Park’s Eucalyptus Shelter in South San Francisco and featured a giant spread of barbecue from local favorite Dickey’s Barbecue.

Because much of the work our Techs do is remote, this was chance to bring them together with the San Francisco Office and celebrate everyone’s hard work. A little rain earlier in the day did nothing to dampen the spirits of those who attended, as it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon to relax with some fantastic food while kids played Frisbee and created sidewalk art. The picnic proved to be the perfect opportunity for the Outsource Team to spend time with the Techs, get to know their families, and to thank them for being such a big part of the company.

From all reports, the event was a blast and Holly Andrews, who works as an Account Manager in the San Francisco office, says, “It was great to meet the families of the guys that work so hard to make Outsource a success. Also, hearing how much they appreciate Outsource was a huge bonus.” Outsource prides itself on the culture it has created and welcomes opportunities to recognize the efforts of the company employees and technicians. In addition to events like the office picnic, we have a super perks program that gives Outsource employees access to great discounts on local sporting events, entertainment, services, shopping and food & drink.

Along with Holly, VP of Sales Shawn Dale, Senior Account Executive Paul Baldaccini, as well as Recruiters Kelly Simon, Jessie Adams and Cameron Crivello represented Outsource. Also in attendance were Shawn’s wife and two children, Holly’s daughter, and Cameron’s girlfriend. Thanks to our hard-working Technicians, their families, and everyone who braved the weather. We look forward to doing it again soon!

image1The 2014 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition was another huge success for Outsource. Held this year at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 28 – October 2, 2014, it is one of the key shows in the information technology systems and structured cabling industry. Because Outsource is the only national provider of staff and technicians for the a number of industries represented at the event, including Security, Electrical, Audio/Visual, Data Center, and Cabling, we are a regular presence at both the West Coast and East Coast shows.

BICSI is a professional association that supports the structured cabling installation industry, its technicians, and vendors. Exhibits covered the range of voice, data electronic safety and security, as well as A/V technologies. With technical pre-conference seminars, countless breakaway sessions to attend, on-site examinations for those looking to get their BICSI credentials, and every attending company’s booth to visit in the exhibition hall, these were a packed five days for BICSI Conference participants.

With an average of 150 exhibitors per conference and an attendance of 3,800 participants, the BICSI Conferences are an excellent opportunity for participating Outsource Team members to meet, exchange ideas, and interact with thousands of prospective clients one-on-one, and to check in with current clients. Traveling to trade shows is a great opportunity to learn from veteran employees, and we always send a balanced group so that the senior staff can mentor while junior members get hands on experience.

Click here to see video highlights of the 2014 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition.

Outsource will be headed back to next year’s events, including the 2015 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition, held February 22-26 in Orlando Florida, and the 2015 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition, which will be held September 20-24 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Outsource Opens Cincinnati Office and Increases Reach in the Midwest

Outsource expanded its reach in the Midwestern U.S. market with the opening of its Cincinnati, Ohio office on October 1st, 2014. This is the 19th Outsource location in the U.S. and further solidifies the company’s national reputation as a leader in the staffing industry. Outsource continues to grow its structured cabling, electrical and integration staffing business in the Midwest since establishing an initial presence in Chicago. Today, the company is in a better position that ever to serve the needs of area businesses working in the wiring and structured cable industries, electrical, fire alarm, and security industries.

The idea to expand into Cincinnati was presented by Account Manager Brian Thomas, who has been with Outsource since August 2013, and who received his training in Chicago. Further internal research supported Brian’s suggestion and showed that Ohio’s economy continues to grow and that more positive growth is expected in the region. Research also revealed that many regional companies are headquartered in Ohio and that the decisions made there affect the entire region, including Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas, and as far east as New York.

Because he was already spending a good bit of time between Chicago and Cincinnati, the final decision was made to have Brian relocate permanently to Cincinnati and establish a foothold for the company in Ohio. Shawn Dale and Sam Jarvis acted quickly in securing a space for Brian, The office opened on October 1st in the Regus Suites, located at 201 East Fifth Street, Suite 1900, right in the heart of Cincinnati’s central business district.

It helps that Cincinnati is Brian’s hometown, which he sees as a major advantage over his competitors. He says, “Having a local presence in Ohio is key because people in the Midwest like to ‘buy local.’ They are familiar with the services Outsource provides and they really like that our company specializes in the wired systems industry.”

Brian will initially focus Ohio’s leading markets, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus, with a future goal of expanding into Indianapolis and Louisville, which are located only a few hours away. When asked about the Ohio market, Brian said, “There is a lot of interest from clients and there are a lot of new businesses for Outsource to focus on.”

If you work in the Los Angeles office or have visited there recently, you have probably noticed the work of local artist Ryan Graeff, whose studio is located in El Segundo. Outsource CEO John Lowell recently began acquiring his work and, because the subject matter of Graeff’s paintings are often cityscapes and iconic visual language, commissioned him to create works that represent the different cities where Outsource offices are located. To assist in the creative process, the company enlisted Outsource employees to suggest buildings and landmarks that are representative of their cities for Graeff to include in each piece. Ryan looks at the Outsource project as a “great opportunity to be exposed to some of the architecture of cities I haven’t visited.” He says, “I’m having fun with it and trying to take the medium to new places.” Here’s a video of Ryan working on a piece commissioned by the LAPD 77th St. Division.

Graeff trained under Master Printer Tony Zepeda, and today, his artwork combines traditional silkscreen printing techniques, photography, and painting with strong imagery that offers a subjective look at the cities that are represented in each piece. His work was featured in Hancock (starring Will Smith) and his list of collectors also include Shaquille O’Neal, baseball star Brady Anderson, and actor Robin Riker, just to name a few. In addition to the series for Outsource, Ryan is also collaborating with commercial and fine art photographer David LaChapelle by incorporating the famed photographer’s images into Graeff’s art.

Outsource is proud to support the artists in the communities that the company calls home and we greatly appreciate the work environment that their work helps to create. Below are a few photos of Ryan’s work that we proudly display and enjoy in the L.A. Office.

Big changes are underway at the San Diego office, which serve as an overall sign of things to come for Outsource. The San Diego branch began as two employees sharing an office, but the larger suite at 4455 Morena Blvd, Suite 109 is better suited for further expansion in the market. The office is conveniently located near the San Diego Freeway and Pacific Beach, one of San Diego’s vibrant neighborhoods. The decision is a continuation of the Outsource philosophy of having offices in areas in close proximity to upscale urban areas and the amenities they offer. The investment in the dynamic new space includes a reception desk, workspace with mountable screens for six employees, a private office, and a separate break area with a conference table that can accommodate up to six people. Chao Wang, a Recruiter for the company says that the new space is spacious, modern, and user-friendly that will contribute more and more to the overall growth of the company. And Sam Hunsperger, the company’s Business Development Manager, says that as a result, they are in a great position to continue growing and dominating the San Diego market.

The company is always looking to expand and welcomes talented and ambitious individuals who understand that success depends upon a mix of productivity both in the field as well as in the office, where collaboration and the ability to work in teams is of utmost importance. Outsource is a company built on culture and the new office has cool greens and blue accent colors inspired by our corporate logo. The new layout as well as the furniture, artwork, carpet, and surfaces is the result of a collaboration between management and the input and feedback of our employees. CEO John Lowell and COO Lance Shiring, with the help of Amy Gleason, ultimately settled on a modern design aesthetic that will be applied in the near future to all of the offices in the Outsource family.

Our team at the expo reported back that they were kept busy throughout the show and met many company representatives interested in our services.
