Outsource Electrical Staffing Northern California San Francisco Paul BaldacciniPaul Baldaccini works out of the San Francisco office and is one of Outsource’s most experienced Account Managers. In 2016, Paul will be celebrating his 10th year with the company, where he began as a recruiter before quickly rising to the role of business development manager. When Paul started at Outsource, the company had 60 employees and offices in two states: California and Arizona. Today, the company has 16 offices in 10 states nationwide and has nearly tripled its number of employees.

Looking back on it, he says, “It’s been an incredible journey to get from where I started to where I am today. I’ve grown into a better salesman because the company allowed me to utilize my natural talent and abilities while helping me strengthen the skills that I wanted to develop. I feel that working at Outsource has made me into a better person overall.”

Paul graduated San Diego State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics. He was close to accepting a position at one of the country’s leading financial institutions when he heard about Outsource and interviewed with Shawn Dale in the San Francisco office.

“I didn’t know anything about recruiting or the staffing business, but when Shawn told me how it worked and explained the business model, I was hooked.”

Paul says that he took the position at Outsource because he wanted to be in sales and that Outsource allowed him to get into sales quickly. “I’m naturally competitive, I wanted to work in a competitive environment, and I’m financially driven, so Outsource was the perfect fit. I love finding work for people and really got a thrill out of watching my name climb up the weekly sales report.”

When Shawn Dale landed a big electrical account in San Francisco, opening up the industry in Paul’s market, he recognized this as an opportunity to excel. Outsource CEO John Lowell flew up to the San Francisco and asked Paul what he wanted to do and where he wanted to go in the company. Paul said that he saw a lot of potential in the electrical side of the business and John agreed to let him focus on this area. Today, Paul runs the electrical division in San Francisco.

“Outsource is a great company because it’s a place where anyone who really wants to climb to the top, will climb to the top. You have to be organized, stay disciplined, and be the person who puts in the extra time and goes the extra mile. But if you follow the plan and listen to the executives, you will succeed.”

“This is the best work environment I’ve ever experienced. It has allowed my natural skills to blossom, while teaching me how to harness my passion for sales. I’ve become a better manager, learned how to work with recruiters, customers, and how to properly motivate my team. I’m really proud of what we’ve accomplished as a company.”

Today, he still recalls an early manager training session that he attended in Los Angeles. “I remember the company had arranged for a group of guest speakers to come in and talk with us. When they were finished, John Lowell came in and said, “The sky is the limit at Outsource. I’m serious. It you put the work into it, there’s no limit to how successful you can be.””

“I still remember this,” Paul says, “because he was right.”

Paul specializes in providing staffing solutions to C-7 and C-10 contractors and also brings experience working with security systems integrators. When he’s not in the office, Paul enjoys surfing, hunting, travelling, and spending time with his wife and their 15 month-old son.

blaine-monteauBecause of her remarkable success in the Chicago market, Smita Abraham is the latest high achieving and exceptionally dedicated member of the Outsource team to be profiled in our Employee Spotlight.

Smita attended Grand Valley State University where she held the position of President of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and graduated with a degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management. She joined Outsource in November 2012, working as a Recruiter. By utilizing the communication, leadership, and management skills she developed in college, Smita quickly advanced into her current role as National Account and Branch Operations Manager.

Smita says she accepted the position because “Outsource is a growing company. I knew it was a good opportunity and that I would have a chance to make an impact.” Since joining the Chicago office, she has led the growth of the integration business, helped establish Outsource as a player in the Midwest, and now handles some of the company’s most important national accounts.

When asked about working at Outsource, Smita says, “The people you work with make all the difference. I’m very fortunate to work with amazing people in Chicago and to have such strong support from corporate and upper management. Shawn (Dale) and Steve (Ebenhack) have been excellent mentors and they guide me in the right direction.” She added, “The people at Outsource try to recognize your strengths so that you can best utilize your talents. They put the best people in the right position to succeed.”

According to Smita, the primary keys to success at Outsource are “Hard work, a competitive spirit, and the ability to multitask. Priorities are constantly changing so you have to stay on top of things. You have to be accountable to your clients and be available to them, no matter what, and always remember that you are the face of the company. It’s very rewarding when you work hard to line things up and everything comes together perfectly for a client.”

She adds, “I think the biggest win for me personally, has been creating an amazingly talented team that is both hardworking and resilient. They are capable of making such an impact in this market and I can’t wait to see what they will accomplish. We have a rather difficult market with some unique challenges, but they have been able to stay competitive and provide our clients with the best service possible.”

Outside of the office, Smita enjoys living on Lake Michigan, where she likes to spend time at the beach, kayaking, and playing with her new puppy.

Outsource D.C. OfficeOutsource continues to thrive as the leading staffing company dedicated exclusively to the wired services industry. We are seeing record sales, tremendous growth, and some of the largest training classes in the history of the company. As a result, Outsource is pleased to announce the expansion and relocation of three of our largest offices: Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and our Corporate Headquarters in Los Angeles.

The Washington D.C. office is now located in Tyson’s Corner, VA, one of the areas leading commercial centers and headquarters to major corporations. We are 30 minutes closer to D.C. and more centrally located to our customers in the region.

Outsource D.C. OfficeIt features a conference room, kitchen, two private offices, and a separate fax/printing area, with recruiting and account management each having a unique section dedicated to its business. The office is newly renovated and there is a café, restaurant, and gym located in the building. It is also conveniently located near a variety of restaurants, prime shopping, and the Metro subway line.

The Atlanta office is tripling in size. It is located in the Concourse Corporate Center, one of Atlanta’s iconic business landmarks, directly in the heart of Central Perimeter at I-285 and GA-400. The Concourse campus includes essential and luxurious amenities like a Westin Hotel, Concourse Athletic Club, KinderCare, concierge services, an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, and easy access to restaurants, banking, and shopping.

Outsource D.C. OfficeIt is directly accessible from anywhere in the region and also offers a dedicated shuttle to the nearby Perimeter MARTA station for easy access to Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.

The Outsource Corporate office, located in Los Angeles, will occupy a suite on the 11th floor of the award winning, twelve story, Grand Avenue Courtyard building. The office design features open workstations, glass walls, polished concrete floors, glass doors, and sidelights. It will incorporate Outsource’s distinctive blue and green color palette, modern furniture, paintings by Los Angeles-based artist Ryan Graeff, and a contemporary aesthetic that will extend to all Outsource offices as we continue to expand.

Outsource D.C. OfficeCOO Lance Shiring says, “It’s easy to overlook how one’s work environment impacts attitude and productivity. Typically, it doesn’t resonate until the décor is changed, furniture is updated, or an actual office move occurs. I can say without a doubt that we needed such a change for the Corporate office and we’re very excited to be able to move everyone into a beautiful new space. The design, just like that of the new D.C. and Atlanta offices, results in bright workspaces that are clean, uncluttered, and modern. We look forward to incorporating this modern style into our other branches and establishing a unique Outsource aesthetic that everyone recognizes, no matter which office you visit.”

Outsource Teams with Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Habitat-Dallas8Starting at the beginning of 2015, Outsource formed a Volunteer Committee to help organize and plan volunteer events at branches across the country. The Q1 charity is Habitat for Humanity International, which was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing and the organization has built or repaired over 1 million homes, serving more than 5 million people worldwide. Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Churches, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem―decent housing for all.

Outsource is proud to partner with an organization that has made a direct impact on the lives of so many people. To date, employees from three of our offices—Seattle, Los Angeles, and Dallas—have all dedicated time to volunteer and put their talents to work at their local Habitat for Humanity ReStore center.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit, home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price.  Habitat for Humanity ReStores are proudly owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity affiliates, and proceeds are used to build homes, community, and hope locally and around the world.

1image1On March 7th, five representatives from the Outsource branch in Dallas met at Habitat ReStore for a day of organizing, rearranging, and “just getting dirty and having fun helping the community” according to Operations Analyst Christopher Trevino. The store was buzzing and, for an organization that relies heavily on volunteers, everyone’s efforts were greatly appreciated. Recruiter Jasmine Christopher said, “It was my first time experiencing Habitat for Humanity ReStore and I have to say that it was a lot of fun!”

Four Outsource representatives from the Seattle office volunteered on Saturday, March 14th, and the team was put to work right away consolidating cabinets, making room for newly arriving goods, and building a floor display. Recruiter Carlie Stone says, “Habitat ReStore is a great place for contractors and individuals to donate extra material and home goods, which is then sold to the public. It’s like a scaled version of Home Depot.” She added, “It was a really positive experience. The people who work there are very invested and they were happy to have Outsource involved and helping.”

That same day, further down the West coast, the Los Angeles team gathered at their local ReStore and they, too, were put right to work, doing whatever was required. Staff Accountant Charles Brunner said, “We worked right alongside the ReStore employees and they were really appreciative of our help. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an opportunity to spend a Saturday volunteering.”

Habitat-Seattle4Recruiter Lexi Neste added, “It’s a great place to buy discounted, recycled building materials and home items, plus it helps a lot of people who are less fortunate.” Leonard Bune, who works as a Payroll Compliance Administrator, even gained some insight into the sales world with the help from his ReStore foreman: “Ultimately, they wanted product that we could put together in minutes and place on the showroom area for sale as quickly as possible.” Leonard took the advice to heart and, by the end of the day, helped sell a faux leather sofa, a bathroom sink cabinet, and a steel door.

Habitat for Humanity volunteers – both on construction sites and in Habitat ReStores – have helped more than 600,000 families in need own decent, affordable homes. From customer service to furniture repair, the Habitat ReStores offers volunteer opportunities geared toward individual interests and skills. By giving your time, you can help your Habitat ReStore do more to support local building projects for those in need in your community and around the world.

Stay tuned for more updates and click here to find your local Habitat for Humanity Restore!

1cancunLike Google, AIG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and many of the world’s leading companies, Outsource understands the benefit of rewarding its top performers. Each year, the company holds its annual rewards trip. This year the trip was in Cancun, Mexico at the exclusive Hyatt Zilara, which serves as a stunning backdrop for everyone to relax, unwind, and reflect on their accomplishments.

The company recently completed this year’s trip and it proved, yet again, to be a blast. Some of the special highlights included a private dinner on the beach for the entire Outsource group and even a marriage proposal from one of our Seattle team members.

New hires to Outsource have to meet a certain criteria to qualify for the trip, but for the high performing team members who do, it’s a great chance to meet mentors, corporate leaders, and learn what the company and the culture are all about.

2cancunJenny Zhao, who is Dallas’ Regional Director of Operations, has been on the trip many times and looks forward to it every year. She says, “You’re in a place where everyone there cares about their job and what they do. You know you’re going to see the same, top people every year. It’s like the annual Outsource family reunion.”

There are plenty of things to do while you’re in Cancun: you can go on excursions to the ancient ruins of Tulum, explore the town of Cancun, or you can just relax at the resort and enjoy the beach, pool, and other amenities. However, if you really want to step up your game, take a page out of Michael Lippert’s playbook.

Michael is an Account Manager and the pioneer who started the Seattle office. This was his third trip to Cancun and each year he brings his girlfriend, Beth, as his guest. This year, he took full advantage of the beautiful, romantic setting by proposing to her. It was a surprise to everyone and we wish Michael and Beth a wonderful future together!

Another Outsource ‘first’ was a private dinner on the beach for all those who attended which included over 100 people. 2014 proved to be a banner year for the company, and CEO John Lowell took the opportunity to mark the occasion by hosting the special event.

2cancun“I love the yearly trip to Cancun,” John said. “It gives me a chance to see everyone in a very relaxing setting where I can truly thank them for all that they do for the company. I’m very proud of these people and honored that they have chosen to pursue their career with Outsource.”

The Cancun trip is not only a way to celebrate the accomplishments of the previous year, but, with the leading team members of Outsource in a relaxed environment exchanging ideas and planning for the upcoming year, it also helps to ensure the company will continue to prosper. Lance Shiring, Chief Operating Officer, perhaps best sums up the entire experience:

On the surface, our Cancun trip is meant to recognize our highest performing sales and recruiting associates for their contribution in Outsource’s continued success.  But I also like to think of it as a great way to get our top performers across the U.S. all in one place that is far from the hustle and bustle, so they can bond with old friends or build new relationships with peers from other markets.  The best part for me was being able to spend quality time with people who lead by example in a setting that doesn’t involve a pressed suit (unless you have a waterproof one) or conference calls.”

Congratulations to all of those who qualified for this year’s trip and we look forward to seeing old friends and new faces when we do it again next year!

1The 2015 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition proved to be an even bigger success than last year for Outsource, who not only exhibited at the show, but was also one of the exhibition’s leading Sponsors. The company also hosted a Happy Hour reception on the last night of the event that was well attended.

BICSI is a professional association that supports the structured cabling installation industry, its technicians, and vendors. Exhibits covered the range of voice, data electronic safety and security, as well as A/V technologies. Held this year at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center from February 22- 26, 2015, it is one of the key shows in the information technology systems and structured cabling industry.

According to Business Develop Manager Matt Lechner, who works out of the Atlanta office, things got started quickly for the Outsource team: “We pulled a tall order from one of the national customers on the second day and we’re diving into it head first.” He added, “After attending more than 20 BICSI events, Outsource continues to see fresh faces and new companies in the different markets.”

With technical pre-conference seminars, countless breakaway sessions to attend, on-site examinations for those looking to get their BICSI credentials, and every attending company’s booth to visit in the exhibition hall, these were a packed five days for BICSI Conference participants. Outsource is the only national provider of staff and technicians for the a number of industries represented at the event, including Building Integration, Security, Electrical, Audio/Visual, Data Center, and Cabling, and we maintain a strong presence at both the West Coast and East Coast shows.

Unknown-1

Inside Sales Representative Jeremy Murdy, also from the Atlanta office, has been with Outsource for just under a year. He got a front row seat to the energy and huge scale of BICSI: “I think that this was something that was very useful for new Inside Sales Reps. It’s a great learning tool to just get out there and sell. It takes you out of your comfort zone and puts you in a situation where you need to be personable and sell.”

The company generated 238 official leads this year. About half of them were from the Southeast, although businesses from the Northeast and Central United States showed strong numbers. There were even 19 leads generated from West Coast companies. Craig Wrenn, who serves as a Business Development Manager, came down from the Jacksonville office and it was his second BICSI event as a member of the Outsource team. He said, “It’s a great show. I got to see a lot of my clients and we generated a lot of leads. In terms of total numbers, it was definitely bigger and better than last year.”

photo 1[9]

The number of attendees increased from 4,200 last year to 5,000 in 2015, as did the number of exhibitors, growing from 180 to 200. The BICSI Conferences are an excellent opportunity for participating Outsource team members to meet, exchange ideas, and interact with thousands of prospective clients one-on-one, and to check in with current clients. Traveling to trade shows is a great opportunity to learn from veteran employees, and we always send a balanced group so that the senior staff can mentor while junior members get hands on experience.

Click here to see video highlights of the 2015 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition.

Outsource would like to thank all of those who joined us in Orlando and we look forward to the upcoming 2015 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition, this September 20-24 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas!

recruiter-training-outsource2014 proved to be a banner growth year for Outsource and the company set a Q1 emphasis to hire new personnel and promote recruiters into sales roles. As a result of this tremendous growth, Outsource is proud to announce that this February, the company hosted its largest Foundation Training class ever. Eleven employees, all recent Outsource hires, participated in the weeklong course at corporate headquarters in Los Angeles. The training class was run by Recruitment Operations Manager Danny Brawer and consisted of recruiters from offices in Phoenix, Austin, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Tampa, and New York City.

The sessions ran began February 11th and consisted of role-playing challenges as well as classroom instruction, with an overall goal of helping trainees understand who Outsource is as an organization and how they fit into the big picture as a recruiter. They’re taught how to identify people to recruit, how to get an interview, as well as how to go out into the field and recruit new hires for the company. When asked about the class, Brawer said, “The trainees gelled well together and there was great energy. They all have bright futures ahead of them at Outsource.”

Outsource training session aren’t all about work, of course. We like to play hard, too. During the evenings, trainees would get together and explore the Los Angeles nightlife. On Thursday night, the company treated everyone for dinner at Rock’n Fish Restaurant in Manhattan Beach; there were daily lunches, as well as a Tuesday happy hour at one of the company’s favorite after-work spots.

Congratulations to all of our new Recruiters and welcome to Outsource!

sales-trainingFebruary got off to a fast start at Outsource, which hosted one of its largest sales training sessions to date. Six employees, all recently promoted into Account Manager and Outside Sales positions, participated in the weeklong course of orientation and training at corporate headquarters in Los Angeles. “A big part of Outsource’s success can be attributed to the fact that our team members consistently provide an exceptional level of service to our clients, and that starts right here at the Sales training,” Vice President of Sales Sam Jarvis said. “We focus on making sure every person on our new Sales team walks out of here with a deep understanding of our clients’ business needs and how Outsource is uniquely able to address them.”

The sessions provide participants the additional training they need and provides role-playing challenges so they are equipped to handle anything the trainees might encounter once they return to their branch offices. Regional Director of Operations Jenny Zhao, who also helped lead the course, said, “It was a very positive class and one of the larger sales training sessions we’ve had.”

The courses are a great opportunity to learn and practice the company’s methods, gain the skills needed for success, and to receive mentoring from our senior employees. But the week wasn’t just about work. Monday night, everyone got together for happy hour, followed by a group dinner on Wednesday. It was great to see so many members of the Outsource family taking a break to socialize and have a good time together.

Congratulations to all and best of luck in your continued success and growth with Outsource!

The San Francisco office opened in 2000, and celebrates its 15th Anniversary this year. The roots of the branch run deep, beginning the day Shawn Dale started working out of his apartment, running Telecommunication sales with the help of a single Recruiter. Today, Shawn is the national VP of Sales and the Director of National Accounts where he works with the company’s Business Development Managers across the country to strengthen existing relationships and capture new business.

Shawn helped build a strong regional team that has grown to eleven employees: four Account Managers, four Recruiters, an Operations Analyst, and a Field Coordinator. Together, they provide skilled technicians and support to a variety of sectors across the wiring industry, including electrical, audio/visual, security, fire alarm, structured cabling, and integration.

The San Francisco team follows the motto “work hard, play hard” and is comprised of a group of focused, motivated, and dedicated individuals who are consistently ranked at the top of Outsource’s sales and recruiting charts. Paul Baldaccini, who will celebrate his 10th Anniversary with the company in 2015, has been the top Account Manager for several years. Cameron Crivello is consistently rated as a leading Outsource Recruiter.

Outsource’s San Francisco branch is located on the San Francisco Bay and is considered to be one of the company’s most beautiful offices. It is only minutes away from Downtown and a short drive to Silicon Valley and the California wine country. The team has the privilege of working in the city that Bloomberg BusinessWeek designated ‘The Best City in America’ in 2012, offering beautiful beaches, year round cultural events and concerts, and some of the best restaurants and bars in the Unites States.

Team building is an important goal of the San Francisco office, which often rewards high sales numbers with employee breakfasts and company happy hours. Birthdays are an important part of office life, and are celebrated with cake and lunch. The team enjoys spending time together outside of work, so karaoke in the city, dinner by the water in Half Moon Bay, and happy hour in Pacifica are common occurrences. Outsource also understands the support of family members and significant others, which we invite to participate in company activities. Account Manager Holly Andrews, who will be celebrating her 5th Anniversary with the company this year, says, ”Like the city of San Francisco, our team is dynamic and fun, which makes for an energetic atmosphere in the office.”
